The blog post was titled &#8220;<a title=\"Permanent Link to Upgrading the Cisco PIX\u00a0506E\" rel=\"bookmark\" href=\"http:\/\/hackaday.com\/2008\/09\/28\/upgrading-the-cisco-pix-506e\/\">Upgrading the Cisco PIX\u00a0506E&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>i decided i HAD to do this or i would be totally lame.<\/p>\n<h2>Here are the highlights:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>I found a 700mhz Pentium III chip with a 100mhz FSB at a local computer store for 10 dollars.<\/li>\n<li>I found 320mb of pc100 ram laying around and proceeded to install this in my unit.<\/li>\n<li>I also added some memory heat sinks (2 dollars) to the northbridge to help with cooling.<\/li>\n<li>I cleaned the heatsink and used Arctic Silver thermal paste instead of the transfer pad.
