According to the the story i just read, Nokia is betting alot on the upcoming release of a few Lumia smartphones running windows phone. I will be ordering mine on the 30th when they officially take pre-orders. I should have it on the 8th when it launches. I think there is the distinct possibility this phone could lure the remaining Blackberry users away and take a good chunk of the android / iphone users due to the speed and power of the platform. The enterprise grade features for email / messaging will mean IT departments will feel better connecting the phones to Exchange than the Android and Apple alternatives.
The next few months will be crucial forNokia as it takes on Apple and Google in two of the world’s largest mobile markets, the U.S. and China. The Finnish handset giant is launching its Lumia series of smartphones at all the three Chinese carriers, China Mobile, China Unicom andChina Telecom, on March 28th.
Best phone of CES 2012: Nokia Lumia 900, yeah thats right, not andoid, nor apple, but Nokia won this award.
The clean hardware design encases a 1.4 GHz processor and a 4.3-inch AMOLED ClearBlack display. Every demo I have seen of the display shows off the Windows Phone screen in bright, vivid detail. The front 1MP camera brings video calling to Windows Phone, and the 8MP rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics (F2.2 aperture) may be the best on any smartphone.
The release cost will be $99 and to get the in-store AT&T reps knowledge of the phone, Nokia and AT&T are giving a free phone to every sales rep.
One of the reasons i own such a diverse group of gadgets comes from the QA i do for Digital Physician EHR. I want to make sure that new platforms (especially mobile platforms) are well supported and we get a chance to test them to make recommendations. That is why we have an iPad, Kindle, Android based smartphone, Apple Smart phone and now this is part of the driving factor behind my upcoming purchase of the Lumia 900. That and the fact that my Droid has a bad digitizer and is acting haunted.
