Well, we all knew that this would happen some day. Medical Professionals are having patients sign a “mutual privacy agreement” granting ownership of any online commentary you make about the visit to the doctor? The concern that the doctors have is valid, i mean come on, who wants to be slandered by some customer and lose businesses over it? Companies are springing up every day to protect your reputation. ever hear of reputation.com? but i think this is the wrong way to go about protecting your online reputation. This will most likely have the opposite effect that they are intending, they will most likely lose potential customers, especially the precise customers they want to rave about them online are the type to read the paperwork and complain about it online. I saw this article online today @ arstechnica. you can read the full story here: http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2011/05/all-your-reviews-are-belong-to-us-medical-justice-vs-patient-free-speech.ars
anyways, if any business asks me to sign a release, it wont be signing and i will move on to the next business that gets my point of view. I will rave about the companies that do good work and blast those that repeat bad service so others will be protected. I always give a fair shake and go out of my way to give the benefit of the doubt.
